Degrees App, Inc. ("Degrees," "we," "us") operates the Degrees application and trydegrees.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
1. Information we collect
Account information: name, username, phone number, gender, and date of birth (for age verification).
Contacts (for the social graph): if you grant permission, we access your phone contacts to match you with people you know. Contact identifiers are processed in hashed form to build your friend and friend-of-friend connections. You can decline contact access and still use core features.
Usage and device data: how you interact with the Service, device type, and app activity.
Location data: if you grant permission, approximate or precise location to support venue and presence features. You can decline.
2. How we use information
To operate the Service: build your social graph, route you to venues, deliver your weekly reveal, and enable waves.
To verify your identity and age.
To send you transactional and account messages (including SMS — see Section 5).
To improve and secure the Service.
3. How we share information
We share information only as needed to run the Service:
Service providers who process data on our behalf (e.g., hosting, authentication, messaging delivery) under contract.
Legal/safety reasons where required by law or to protect users.
Business transfers (e.g., merger or acquisition).
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Mobile information / SMS — non-sharing
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information you share when opting in to SMS — including your mobile phone number and your consent — will not be shared with any third parties for their marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories of data in this policy exclude text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information is not shared with third parties. We share mobile information only with service providers (such as our messaging platform) strictly to deliver the messages you requested.
5. SMS messaging program
By providing your mobile number and opting in, you consent to receive text messages from Degrees related to your account and product activity, such as: verification codes, waitlist and invite updates, your weekly reveal, and waves from people in your network.
Message frequency varies.
Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier's standard rates apply to all messages.
Opt out at any time: reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe. You will receive one confirmation message and no further messages.
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations, and we use reasonable safeguards to protect it. No method of transmission is 100% secure.
8. Age requirement
The Service is intended only for individuals 21 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. See the Terms for age requirements.
9. Changes
We may update this policy; we'll post the new effective date here and, where appropriate, notify you.
